Taxonomy
Lithodomus plumula was named by Hanley (1844). It is extant.
It was recombined as Lithophagus plumula by Carpenter (1857); it was recombined as Lithophaga plumula by Dall (1898), Arnold (1903), Hertlein and Strong (1946), McLean (1969), Kern (1973); it was recombined as Lithophaga (Diberus) plumula by Moore (1983), Coan et al. (2000).
