Archaeotrichion septatum was named by Schopf (1993). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Fig. 3 D & E, an other, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chinaman Creek, which is in a Paleoarchean marine chert in the Apex Chert Formation of Australia.
