Taxonomy
Plaesiomys subquadratus cutterensis was named by Howe (1966). Its type specimen is USNM 146558, a valve (pedicle valve), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Plaesiomys cutterensis by Wright and Stigall (2013).
