Taxonomy
Leptostrophia (Leptostrophia) ostrina was named by Cocks (1967). Its type specimen is OUM Cl4014 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hughley, which is in a Telychian marine shale in the Purple Shale Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Palaeoleptostrophia ostrina by Rong and Cocks (1994); it was recombined as Mesoleptostrophia (Mesoleptostrophia) ostrina by Cocks (2008).
