Acanthoceras (Mammites) prenodosoides was named by Boule et al. (1907).

It was recombined as Metoicoceras prenodosoides by Reyment (1955); it was misspelled as Submantelliceras pseudonodosoides by Morris and Kennedy (2018); it was recombined as Submantelliceras prenodosoides by Kennedy and Morris (2018).
