Taxonomy
Arcestes tridens was named by Rothpletz (1892). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ajer Mati (Wichmann collection), which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate sandstone in Indonesia.
It was recombined as Stacheoceras tridens by Haniel (1915), Bogoslovskaya (1990); it was recombined as Stacheoceras (Neostacheoceras) tridens by Leonova (2002), Leonova (2018).
