Taxonomy
Kotlassia was named by Amalitzky (1921). It is not extant. Its type is Kotlassia prima.

It was assigned to Seymouridae by Sushkin (1926) and Efremov (1940); to Kotlassidae by Carroll (1988); and to Kotlassiinae by Bulanov (2003).
