Taxonomy
Catopsalis kakwa was named by Scott et al. (2018). Its type specimen is TMP 2012.024.0063, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zagas Quarry (TMP locality L2391), which is in a Torrejonian terrestrial siltstone in the Porcupine Hills Formation of Canada.
