Taxonomy
Scincosaurus was named by Fric (1876) [non Quoy & Gaimard (1824)]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Batrachiderpetontinae by Beerbower (1963); to Scincosauridae by Carroll (1988), Carroll et al. (1998); and to Nectridea by Maddin et al. (2012).
