Taxonomy
Amphorithalamia was named by Senowbari-Daryan and Rigby (1988) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-u P Tatr Sepkoski's reference number: 941,1066]. Its type is Amphorithalamia cateniformis. It is the type genus of Amphorithalamiidae.

It was assigned to Calcarea by Sepkoski (2002); to Girtyocoeliidae by Senowbari-Daryan and Rigby (1988), Finks et al. (2004); and to Amphorithalamiidae by Senowbari-Daryan and Rigby (2015).
