Tuditanus was named by Cope (1871). It is not extant. It is the type genus of Tuditanidae.

It was assigned to Tuditanidae by Hay (1902), Moodie (1916), Carroll (1988) and Carroll et al. (1998); to Microsauria by Haubold et al. (2005); and to Lepospondyli by Maddin et al. (2012).
