Megapleuron zangerli

Taxonomy
Megapleuron zangerli was named by Schultze (1977) [Large E- and B-bone, C-bones smaller. Rostralabrostral length of E to the length of B between 4:5 and 3:4, rostralabrostral length of C to the length of B 2: 3.]. Its type specimen is FMNH R 5323, a skeleton (a small, nearly complete fish preserved in counterpart), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Megapleuron zangerli-type locality, which is in a Pennsylvanian interdistributary bay horizon in the Carbondale Formation of Illinois.
