Chirodipterus onawayensis
Taxonomy
Chirodipterus onawayensis was named by Schultze (1982) [Chirodipterus with long prepineal region (nearly 50% of midline length of skull) and small orbit; bone 10 does not reach bone 8, bone 4 forms posterodorsal margin of orbit but does not reach operculum, bone 1b excluded from margin of orbit; dermopalatine relatively large in comparison to other dipterids.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chirodipterus onawayensis-type locality, which is in a Devonian marine horizon in the Koehler Limestone Formation of Michigan.
