Ptychoceratodus cuyanus

Dipnoi - Ptychoceratodontidae

Taxonomy
Ptychoceratodus cuyanus was named by Agnolin et al. (2017) [Medium-sized lungfish diagnosable on the following combination of characters (asterisk indicates possible autapomorphies): occlusal pits absent; upper tooth plates in wide contact along the mesiobuccal margin; upper tooth plates having five ridges; first ridge of upper tooth plates nearly straight (feebly *Corresponding author. curved); robust, and notably elongate, being slightly longer than the lingual margin*; and mesiointernal angle located at level of the third ridge*.]. Its type specimen is IANIGLA-PV 415,, a partial skull (right incomplete pterygopalatine bone bearing a complete tooth plate (Fig. 2). It is identified as an upper element because of the well-developed pterygopalatin), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Agua de las Avispas, Cerro Cachueta, which is in a Carnian fluvial shale in the Potrerillos Formation of Argentina.

Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
