Bockelia was named by Neuman and Bruton (1989) [Neuman in Neuman and Bruton 1989]. Its type is Bockelia angusticostata.

It was reranked as Tourmakeadia (Bockelia) by Cocks and Rong (2006).

It was assigned to Tourmakeadia by Cocks and Rong (2006); and to Taffiidae by Benedetto (2015).

parvicostellate ornamentation. Delthyrium partially closed
by a pseudodeltidium. Large platforms in both valves.
Prominent dorsal septum reaching its maximum height at the edge of platform. Cardinal process thickened posteriorly, filling a narrow notothyrial platform bounded by strongly divergent socket ridges.
