Bockelia canalis

Taxonomy
Bockelia canalis was named by Benedetto (2015). Its type specimen is CEGH-UNC 25834, a valve (internal mold of dorsal valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro La Chilca Section Palaeoglossa–Chilcorthis Association, which is in a Darriwilian deep-water shale/marl in the Los Azules Formation of Argentina.

J. L. Benedetto 2015Shell small, transversely semielliptical; equiparvicostellate ornamentation of four to five rounded costellae per millimeter at commissure. Ventral platform extending for over 80% of valve length, less accentuated in the anteromedian part. Vascula media deeply impressed, almost straight, diverging from each other c. 60°. Cardinal process expanded posteriorly and joined with the socket ridges. Notothyrial platform low, unbounded anteriorly. Dorsal platform gradually developed through ontogeny, highly elevated and undercut medially, surmounted by a dorsal septum strongly raised and thickened anteriorly.
