Taxonomy
Cryptochorda (Lyrianella) lyrata was named by Nelson (1925). Its type specimen is UCMP 30543, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 3808, Simi Hills, which is in a Thanetian marine siliciclastic in the Santa Susana Formation of California. It is the type species of Cryptochorda (Lyrianella).
