Vieraella was named by Reig (1961). It is not extant. Its type is Vieraella herbstii.
It was assigned to Ascaphidae by Bonaparte (1980), Carroll (1988); to Salientia by Sanchiz (1998); to Salientia by Evans and Borsuk-Bialynicka (1998); and to Anura by Evans et al. (1990), Gao and Wang (2001).
