Taxonomy
Macrocystella durandi was named by Aceñolaza (1999). Its type specimen is PIL 14.530 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is En el camino que une Iturbe con el Abra Blanca y Coranzulí, which is in a Tremadoc marine shale in the Rupasca Formation of Argentina.
