Fania was named by Senowbari-Daryan (1990) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-l Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 941,1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Fanthalamiinae.
It was corrected as Fanthalamia by Finks et al. (2004).
