Taxonomy
Serpula distefanoi was named by Sanfilippo et al. (2017). Its type specimen is MSNC4527 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pietra di Salomone megablock, MSNC collection, Sosio Valley, Sicily, which is in a Wordian platform/shelf-margin reef reef rocks/rudstone in Italy.
