Metaporinus (Tithonia) praeconvexa was named by Jesionek-Szymanska (1963). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wiek quarry, Ogrodzieniec, which is in a Callovian marine horizon in Poland.
It was recombined as Tithonia praeconvexa by Gaillard et al. (2011).
