Taxonomy
Holaster tanamensis was named by Shmidt (1976). Its type specimen is VSEGEI 1/8846 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Olen'i Roga tract, Tanama River, which is in a Santonian marine phosphorite in the Russian Federation.
