Adelargo schultzei
Taxonomy
Adelargo schultzei was named by Johanson and Ritchie (2000) [Characterised by the following combination of features: presence of a pair of small L bones, both overlapping anterior margin of J bone, rather than in antero-posterior sequence; I bone (postparietal) slightly larger than J bone (parietal); B bone separating I bones posteriorly; C bones paired, narrow; bone X small, bone K fused with X or absent; absence of supraorbital canal on bone J, supraoccipital commissure passes through A bone rather than B; parasphenoid with roughly diamond-shaped corpus; long posterior stalk approximately 1.5 times length of corpus, groove on ventral surface of stalk well developed; toothplate dentition (Campbell & Barwick 1995, p. 16) at dipterid level of organisation; pterygoid toothplate broadly triangular, with 10-11 straight tooth rows of separate, rounded cusps (cusps on medial tooth row may be more compressed), rows converging to posteromedial comer, separated by deep clefts (deeper laterally), tubercles absent from clefts; pterygoid bones (supporting the toothplate) with narrow symphysial flange, or flange absent altogether; ring centra vertebrae stout with notochordal opening; anal fm support with broad triangular plate and long, rod-shaped shaft. ]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is AMF56136, a partial skull (left posterolateral portion of skull, preserving I, J and B bones with overlap surfaces on J and B for anterior and literal bones). Its type locality is Adelargo-type locality, which is in a Famennian terrestrial horizon in the Hunter Siltstone Formation of Australia.
