Jiangxisuchus was named by Li et al. (2019). Its type is Jiangxisuchus nankangensis.
It was assigned to Crocodyloidea by Li et al. (2019) and Rio and Mannion (2021); to Orientalosuchina by Massonne et al. (2019), Shan et al. (2021) and Wu et al. (2023); and to Longirostres by Chabrol et al. (2024).
