Taxonomy
Ceresiosaurus lanzi was named by Hänni (2004). It is not extant. Its type locality is Alla Cascina, which is in a Ladinian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal dolomite/shale in the Meride Limestone Formation of Switzerland.
