Eucystis was named by Angelin (1878). It is not extant. Its type is Eucystis raripunctata.

It was assigned to Sphaeronitoidea by Prokop (1964); to Diploporita by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sphaeronitidae by Regnéll (1945), Bockelie (1984), Jell (2010).
