Cheirocrinus loeblichi was named by Bassler (1943) [Cheirocrinus ? loeblichi]. Its type specimen is USNM 113107 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Glyptocystella loeblichi by Paul (1972), Sprinkle (1982).
