Taxonomy
Salenia hondoensis was named by Cooke (1953). Its type specimen is USNM 108366 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 12902, King's Waterhole, which is in a Campanian carbonate limestone in the Anacacho Limestone Formation of Texas.
