Taxonomy
Lefortia trojana was named by Cooke (1953). Its type specimen is USNM 108376 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 17259, Troy, which is in a Maastrichtian marine sandstone in the Ripley Formation of Mississippi.
