Taxonomy
Cassidulus aequoreus was named by Morton (1834). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Prairie Bluff (Morton collection), which is in a Maastrichtian carbonate chalk in the Prairie Bluff Formation of Alabama.
It was recombined as Hardouinia aequorea by Cooke (1953).
