Palacrodon was named by Broom (1906). It is not extant. Its type is Palacrodon browni.

It was assigned to Rhynchocephalia by Broom (1906); to Sphenodontidae by Carroll (1988); and to Diapsida by Gow (1999).

Synonyms

Fremouwsaurus was named by Gow (1992). Its type is Fremouwsaurus geludens.

It was synonymized subjectively with Palacrodon by Gow (1999).

It was assigned to Fremouwsauridae by Gow (1992).
