Procolophonichnium winterswijkense was named by Demathieu and Oosterink (1983). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Steengroeve Winterswijk, which is in an Anisian peritidal limestone in the Vossenveld Formation of the Netherlands.
