Nucula coelata was named by Hinds (1843) [m. kosnik taxon no: 6768]. It is extant.
It was recombined as Leda coelata by Cooper (1888) and Harris (1919); it was replaced with Leda taphria by Dall (1896); it was corrected as Nucula coelata by Kosnik (2002).
