Taxonomy
Glyptograptus avitus was named by Davies (1929) [non 1999 Climacograptus avitus (Davies); Li, p. 92, pl. 1, figs 3–5; text-fig. 1b–d [= Normalograptus madernii Koren’ and Mikhailova].]. It is the type species of Avitograptus.
It was recombined as Normalograptus avitus by Chen et al. (2005); it was recombined as Avitograptus avitus by Melchin et al. (2011).
