Dinosphageus haughtoni was named by Broom (1929). It is not extant. Its type locality is Welgemoed, Leeu-Gamka, which is in a Capitanian terrestrial horizon in South Africa.
It was recombined as Jonkeria haughtoni by Boonstra (1969).
