Gavialis priscus
Taxonomy
Crocodilus priscus was named by Soemmering (1815). It is extant. Its type specimen is NMHUK PV R 1086. Its type locality is Daiting (BMNH collection), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Mörnsheim Formation of Germany.
It was synonymized subjectively with Teleosaurus soemmeringii by Holl (1829); it was recombined as Gavialis priscus by Gray (1831); it was recombined as Teleosaurus priscus by Owen (1842); it was recombined as Aeolodon priscus by von Meyer (1830) and Lydekker (1888).
