Uvacoelia was named by Kügel (1987) [Sepkoski's age data: C u Sepkoski's reference number: 941]. It is not extant. Its type is Uvacoelia schellwieni.
It was assigned to Calcarea by Sepkoski (2002); to Fistulospongininae by Finks et al. (2004); and to Fistulospongiinae by Senowbari-Daryan and Rigby (2015).
