Aristocystites potens was named by Barrande (1887) [Aristocystites ? potens]. It is extant. Its type locality is Chrustenice, which is in a Vinice marine shale in the Vinice Formation of Czechia.
It was recombined as Codiacystis potens by Jaekel (1899); it was recombined as Calix potens by Bassler and Moodey (1943).
