Yukonella was named by Senowbari-Daryan and Reid (1987) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori Sepkoski's reference number: 941].

It was assigned to Calcarea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Vesicocauliinae by Finks et al. (2004).
