Myoida was named by Goldfuss (1820) [also attributed to Stoliczka 1870]. It is extant.
It was considered an invalid subgroup of Heterodonta by Giribet and Wheeler (2002); it was corrected as Myida by Bouchet et al. (2010).
It was assigned to Pteriomorphia by Ward and Blackwelder (1987); to Heteroconchia by Ward (1992); to Asthenodonta by Squires (1999); to Bivalvia by Squires (1988), Kennedy (1993), Squires (1999), Sepkoski (2002); to Heterodonta by Newell (1965), Vokes (1980), Squires (1984), Squires (1987), Coan et al.
