Taxonomy
Retipirula calidula was named by Saul and Squires (2008). Its type specimen is LACMIP 13218 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCLA loc. 1591, Warm Springs Mountain, which is in a Maastrichtian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the San Francisquito Formation of California.
