Gallopsis perita was named by Legalov et al. (2019). Its type specimen is MNT 06-886, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Menat (MNT collection), which is in a Selandian crater lake diatomite in the Menat Formation of France. It is the type species of Gallopsis.
