Ellesmerella aranea

Bivalvia - Ostreida - Posidoniidae

Taxonomy
Posidonia aranea was named by Tozer (1961). Its type specimen is GSC 14202, a valve (Right valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GSC 28450, Otto Fiord, Ellesmere Island, which is in a Spathian deep-water siliciclastic in the Blind Fiord Formation of Canada.

It was recombined as Claraia aranea by Bychkov et al. (1976), Dagis et al. (1996); it was recombined as Ellesmerella aranea by Waterhouse (2008).
