Taxonomy
Aviculopecten (Oxypteria) bittneri was named by Waagen (1907). It is not extant. Its type locality is Pachycardientuff Fauna, Seiser Alm, which is in a Longobardian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Cassian Formation of Italy. It is the type species of Oxypteria, Aviculopecten (Oxypteria).
