Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
L. I. Price 1945The skull of the specimen is characterised in having a long, high and laterally compressed rostrum. The total length of the specimen, without reconstruction and measured from the premaxilla to the posteriormost point of the squamosal, is 36.5 cm. The height, taken from the articular surface of the quadrate to the top of the skull, is 12.5 cm. The maximum width, taken between points on the posterior region of jugals, is 18 cm. The quadrates are directed perpendicularly downward and a Iittle posteriorly. The external narial opening is single and terminal. There is no preorbital fossa. The orbits are directed laterally. The latero-temporal fenestra is separated from the orbit by a thin unsculptered and only slightly depressed postorbital bar. The quadrate is fixed, and the latero-temporal region of the skull is excavated in the crocodilian fashion. The supra-temporal fenestra is large, longer than wide. and approximately the size of the orbit. The nasals extend anteriorly to the external narial opening. It was not possible to verify the existence of a palpebral bone. The surface of the skull is irregularlv sculptured but without the pitting so common in crocodilians.
