Taxonomy
Gobiosuchus was named by Osmolska (1972). It is not extant. Its type is Gobiosuchus kielanae. It is the type genus of Gobiosuchidae, Gobiosuchinae.
It was assigned to Gobiosuchinae by Efimov (1983); to Protosuchia by Wu et al. (1994), Wu et al. (1997) and Fiorelli and Calvo (2008); to Crocodyliformes by Pol and Norell (2004), Zaher et al. (2006) and Clark (2011); to Mesoeucrocodylia by Andrade et al. (2011); to Crocodyliformes by Nascimento and Zaher (2011) and Bronzati et al. (2012); and to Gobiosuchidae by Osmolska (1972), Carroll (1988), Osmólska et al. (1997), Storrs and Efimov (2000), Ortega et al. (2000) and Buscalioni (2017).
