It was assigned to Thoracosauridae by Domning and Clark (1993); to Tomistominae by Piras et al. (2007); to Crocodylidae by Langston (1965), Carroll (1988) and Riff et al. (2010); and to Crocodyloidea by Cidade et al. (2019).
