Taxonomy
Acanthoceras camachoense was named by Böse (1923). Its type specimen is IGL:IGM:1813, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Camacho and Trinidad Mines, which is in a Cenomanian marine horizon in Mexico.

It was recombined as Mantelliceras camachoense by Mertz (2017).
