Taxonomy
Psilounio impensus was named by Huang and Chen (1980). Its type specimen is NIGPAS 38408 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hongqin, Shexian, which is in a Jurassic fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Hongqin Formation of China. It is the type species of Psilounio (Phortunio).
It was recombined as Psilounio (Phortunio) impensus by Guo (1985).
